Check this awesome Q & A with our December 2017 Athlete of the Month Loredana Uguccioni!
1. When did you start CrossFit and why?
I started Crossfit about 4 and half years ago, thanks to Melissa Ponzio. I was an athlete my whole life, and continued playing competitive soccer as an adult. Melissa was on my soccer team and suggested I try it. I am competitive by nature, love a good challenge, and missed being part of a team and community. CrossFit’s biggest appeal was the camaraderie, the community feel of everyone being there to work hard and push each other!
2. What time of day do you normally come in?
My main class is 6pm, sometimes 5pm when I can get there in time, and 6am when work gets crazy and I am coaching, or when Emily and I are doing our accessory work.
3. What is one movement you hate and one you love?
I mean we all know the Snatch (mainly the hitch) is my arch nemesis, and I love thrusters and burpees.
4. Any big goal(s) set for the next year?
I really want to run in a marathon so that is going to be a big goal in the next few years. I also want to get rid of the HITCH. In life, I would love to get to the wedding without driving Chris too crazy!
5. Tell us one fun fact about you.
I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay
6. You were left on a deserted island. What one food and thing (i.e. book, music player, etc…) would you want to be left with?
A good sandwich with cheese would be my food of choice, and my Ipad since I have pictures, books, and music all in one place.
7. How has CrossFit helped you in sports? Life?
Well to start and probably most importantly if it wasn’t for CrossFit I would have never met Chris, so thank you! I also have met some great people who have become some of my closest friends, that I have shared some great times with. CrossFit has also really taught me mental toughness, what it really is to push yourself to do things you never thought you would be able to do. With that, it has also shown me how I handle weaknesses, and the kind of person I am when it comes to adversity. The members and coaches here at CFW above all else have shown me what support looks like, friendship is, inside and outside of the basement!
8. How have workouts changed for you over the years?
I think the workouts have become more about my own personal growth and achievements and not so much comparing myself to other athletes. I also think I push myself so much more now because of all the really great athletes and support around me!
